Call for Posters and Demos

Theme for India HCI 2021 is Design for Disruption.

The pandemic forced us to find or adapt to technology facilitated options of doing the routine. This unforeseen disruption has questioned the earlier assumptions in HCI. Solutions require to be envisaged holistically considering the blurring lines between work, recreation, socialising into our personal space - home. Remote, virtual and online are the common modes of interacting.

The probes into this enforced new normal with regards to HCI could be explored under the following topics

We look forward to submissions on these topics, as well as on other HCI areas. Poster or demo submission could also be the outcome of a class project or a thesis project, an upcoming product that a startup may want to showcase.

Mentorship

This year at India HCI 2021 we are also offering mentoring for demo submissions, the last date for submitting your demo and requesting mentoring is closed (August 10th, 2021). For submissions that do not require mentoring, the last date of submissions is September 19th, 2021. While we are not sure of the format of the conference, we are preparing for both possibilities: in-person and online.

Selected submissions

Atleast, one author needs to register for the conference and present their work at the conference.

Awards

Posters and Demos track will have awards for both the categories. All selected submissions will receive a certificate of participation.

Posters and Demos

Posters are expected to be original work and should include a clear description of your work, its relevance to the HCI community. Posters are not expected to be complete, and are usually a work in progress and a chance to get early feedback from the HCI community.

Demonstrations are previously unpublished work with novel interactions / ideas in demonstrable form.

Both Poster and Demo submissions should be made using the ACM Paper Format (mentioned below). The maximum length of submission should not exceed 6 pages, including references and the filesize should not exceed 10 Mb. Submissions should be made through the Easychair portal.

Demo submissions should be accompanied by a video of length up to 5 minutes and less than 90 MB. This can be uploaded through the Easychair portal.
