Categories

1. Interaction Design in India

Entries are open for product teams, design agencies, and individuals and must fulfil all the following criteria:

• A commercial product or service launched within the past two years (not just a concept)
• Should demonstrate a clear focus on user experience and human-centered design.
• Should show measurable impact on user satisfaction or business outcomes.
• Project must have been primarily conducted or implemented in India.

2. Interaction Design for Indian Needs

Entries are open for product teams, design agencies, and individuals and must fulfil one additional criterion:

• Work that responds directly to needs and contexts specific to India such as, but not limited to, society, language, literacy, culture, traditions, population, technology.

Awards

• Three winners will be announced in each category and will be awarded with trophy and certificates of recognition.
• Winners will be showcased on HCIPAI website.
• Finalists will receive certificates of recognition

Judging Criteria

A panel of HCI experts will evaluate submissions based on the following criteria:

• Evidence of how real users shaped the design, through research, testing, or iteration
• A well-defined problem, and a solution that addresses it directly
• A meaningful, well-executed interaction design
• Evidence of how the design improved things for users or the business, qualitative or quantitative
• Indian context: how specifically the design reflects Indian needs.

Application Process

• Applicants submit a detailed project report via the Google form link. 
• Entries will be checked for completeness and criteria fulfilment.
• Applicants with valid entries will be asked to make presentations to the jury. This stage of presentations will be done online.
• Finalists will be invited in person to the HCIPAI Awards event to for final presentations in December 2026. Venue will for this event will be communicated once finalised.

Timeline

• Submission Deadline: 15th Nov 2026
• Finalist presentations and Awards Ceremony: Dec 2026 (Venue and date to be finalized)

Declarations and Supporting Documents

Applicants are required to submit:

• Project documentation: Reports, papers, presentations, prototypes, or other relevant materials. Testimonials or data demonstrating user satisfaction, Metrics or evidence of the project’s impact. Date of completion of the project
• Declaration of originality and intellectual property rights
• Declaration of any potential conflicts of interest.
• Member affiliations, if any.

Application Fees

For each entry, following fees are applicable. The fees listed below are exclusive of GST. Applicable GST will be charged additionally at the time of payment.

Fees must be paid through the IndiaHCI payment portal.

By participating in the HCIPAI Awards, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions.

Eligibility

Open to professionals working in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) in India.

Submission Guidelines

• All submissions must be original work of the participants.
• Submissions must be made through the HCIPAI Awards submission link.
• Each participant can submit any number of entries per category.

Evaluation Criteria

• Submissions will be evaluated based on innovation, impact, and relevance to the field of HCI.
• The evaluation will be conducted by a panel of jury appointed by HCIPAI.
• The decision of the judges is final and binding.

Intellectual Property

• Participants retain ownership of their submissions.

Indemnity

• Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless HCIPAI from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising out of or in connection with their participation in the awards.

Privacy and Data Protection

• Personal data collected during the submission process will be used solely for the purpose of administering the awards.
• HCIPAI will not share personal data with third parties.

General Conditions

• HCIPAI reserves the right to modify or cancel the awards at any time. Any application fees paid by the applicants will be duly returned to them in such an unlikely scenario. 
• Participants agree to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by HCIPAI.
