Call for Course Proposals

IndiaHCI invites proposals to conduct courses aligned with the theme of this year’s conference: “Emerging Trends in Technology Design”. Courses are a great way to introduce new audiences to specific topics in HCI and potentially excite more people about HCI research. The courses will be conducted online this year because of the prevailing global circumstances. The exact modalities of the online conference will be communicated in due course. 

Preparing and submitting a proposal 

The proposals should have a Detailed Course Description, including the structure of the course, a section on other related courses, the expected outcome from the course, the intended audience, optionally, sample course materials, and, preferences for conducting the course (e.g. lecture mode, the level of interaction, spread over multiple days or in one sitting, etc). It is possible that the conference is unable to meet all the desired preferences. 

At the conference  

Accepted Courses with the minimum number of registered participants will be conducted on a suitable online platform (watch out for the platform details on the IndiaHCI website). Course coordinators will receive remuneration based on the IndiaHCI policies. 

What is expected in a Course? 

Courses are usually delivered in a lecture mode, with optional hands-on components, where the instructor(s) introduce the course materials and go reasonably deep into the subject. The audience is not expected to have a background on the subject. The course is intended to motivate the audience to take an interest in the subject matter and study the subject in-depth and start conducting research in the area. Courses might cover areas like research methods, design, engineering, etc. 

This call for participation is only for individuals interested in conducting courses as instructors. In case you want to attend the courses, please register accordingly. 

Submission Details

• Online Submission: EasyChair Submission Link will be available shortly.
• Submission Template: Course proposals should be submitted in the Conference Extended Abstract Format using MS Word Template or Latex Template or Overleaf Template. 
• Submissions are double-blind.
• Submissions should be no more than 4 pages including references.
• Examples of successful course proposals from previous editions of IndiaHCI: Proposal 1, Proposal 2.

Review process

Each paper will be reviewed through a double-blind peer-review process. This will be done by at least three independent reviewers (experts in the relevant area that are not on the review committee) and a meta-reviewer (from the review committee).
