Full Paper

Papers are the main medium for conveying new research results at IndiaHCI 2020. Submissions are sought that describe original, unpublished work generally in the field of HCI. India HCI uses an anonymous submission process for paper submissions. Please consult the IndiaHCI 2020 Author’s Guide for information on paper format and conference policies on previous and simultaneous publications.

Note that paper submissions are anonymous! The authors must remove author names and affiliations from the masthead. We also strongly encourage them to refer to their own previous work in the third person. See the anonymization policy in the author’s guide for more information.

Appropriate topics include (but are not limited to)

  • Significantly novel enabling technologies such as innovative input devices, displays, new interaction techniques, or new media that extend the boundaries of traditional interaction, such as natural user interfaces and interactions, augmented reality, mobile interaction, computer games, health, accessibility and aging, user modeling.
  • Engineering interactive systems design, ubiquitous computing (including wearables), social software, ICT for development, and computer-supported collaborative work.
  • Innovative user interfaces for difficult interaction contexts or challenging applications. Examples include managing large, complex information sets, usable privacy and security, multi-user interaction, crowdsourcing, automotive user experiences and in-vehicle interactions (devices and interface automation, instrumentation evaluation, interactive systems, benchmarking driver performance and behaviour), or techniques that span devices distributed in time and space.
  • Breakthrough user experiences leveraging techniques such as machine learning, computer vision, computer graphics, speech processing, networking, or human perception and cognition (e.g., analyzing driver distractions).
  • Innovative software architectures, design tools, toolkits, programming systems and development environments that support the development and use of the above technologies in user interfaces.

All papers submissions must be submitted electronically via EasyChair in the following Full Paper Format.

  • If you use Microsoft Word, please download MS Word Template.
  • If you use Latex, please send an email to us at PaperChairIndiaHCI[AT]gmail.com to help you with an appropriate Latex template.

Paper length

There is no arbitrary minimum or maximum length imposed on papers. Rather, reviewers will be instructed to weigh the contribution of a paper relative to its length. Papers should be succinct, but thorough in presenting the work. Typical research papers can be of 7,500-10,000 word length (including image texts). Shorter, more focused papers are encouraged and will be reviewed like any other paper. Papers whose length is incommensurate with their contribution will be rejected.

Videos

Videos accompanying submissions can be submitted through the IndiaHCI EasyChair Electronic Submission Site within a zip file as supplementary material (max 50 MB in size). Although papers must stand on their own, submitted videos will be sent to reviewers as supporting material. Authors should note that no guidelines are given for developing a video. Videos are viewed only as supporting material, and authors of accepted papers will have the opportunity to prepare a more polished final video presentation for inclusion in the proceedings and as supplemental material in the ACM Digital Library. When submitting your video for review, please encode your video in a format that works across as many platforms as possible without the installation of additional codecs (i.e., it is best if your video will play on vanilla versions of Windows Media Player and/or Quicktime player). Please note that the total aggregate size for submission cannot exceed 50 MBytes (including all documents and additional material).

Review process

Each paper will be reviewed through a double-blind peer-review process. This will be done by at least three independent reviewers (experts in the relevant area that are not on the review committee) and a meta-reviewer (from the review committee).

IndiaHCI 2020 is the 11th edition within a well-established IndiaHCI series of international conference. The conference follows a stringent blind peer-review process to select content in terms of academic papers, industry reports and presentations, workshops and courses offered. We are seen as a responsible platform where researchers can discuss their research and insights, industry can bring their innovations and talents, and students can find their inspiration. In addition, the conference has been successful in terms of engaging stalwarts in the discipline, both from academia and industry, as keynote speakers. We have managed expectations of our participants across different levels without compromising on the quality of the experience that an established conference needs to deliver. Our participants, both from academia and industry, have always left with a sense of satisfaction out of their presence in our events.
We expect that the event will be attended by the following group of participants:
  1. Students and faculty members of all leading Design schools in India including NIDs, Department of Design (IIT Guwahati, IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIITDM Jabalpur, AVANTIKA University, SAGE University, DTU, AMBEDKAR University), SHRISTI Bangalore, DJ Academy, Symbiosis Pune, MIT Pune, CEPT, and several others.
  2. HCI researchers and Ph.D. students across different ace institutions.
  3. Design Industry professionals at all different levels.
  4. Technology Development company representatives and professionals.
  5. Entrepreneurs and technology design enthusiasts.
  6. Recruiter and talent search professionals.
