Soft-Prototyping

Aim and Content
The Tutorial will address:
• Concept of prototype, different perspectives
• What is Soft Prototyping?
• Why one should create prototypes?
• What roles prototypes play in practice?
• Kind of prototypes
• Methods, tools and techniques of soft prototypes
• Aligning Soft Prototyping activity to various stakeholder needs
• Soft Prototyping – Advantages and challenges
What the tutorial will not address: How to use a specific prototyping tool/software.
The tutorial is based on the material and approach used by the instructor in IDC for the M.Des. course of the same nature. The method would be: Knowledge sharing, interactive discussions drawing on participants’ real life experience, and experiential learning.

Who should attend?
UX Practitioners. Participants should bring their laptops and any prototyping software they may possess. It would be helpful if your mobiles have cameras and Bluetooth. None of these items are mandatory. The learning will not be hampered in any manner if you do not bring them!

A short biography of the tutor
Pramod Khambete is a B. Tech and M. Des. From IIT Bombay, and also Masters in Management from University of Bombay. He has over 25 years of varied experience both in design and in other corporate roles – in Product Design and Development, Business planning, IT Services Management and Information Security. He started and heads the User Interactions Design Group in Tech Mahindra and has focused on User Experience domain for the past 10 years. He has been a speaker in several national and international conferences and is a visiting faculty at IDC, IIT Bombay. Currently he is pursuing his PhD (external) in IDC, IIT- Bombay in the area of Multi Touch Point User Experience.
